FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

When and where is this happening?
The Owl Job is happening for 3 days only from Friday January 10th to Sunday January 12th, 2020 at Aesthetic Studios at 12 Talbot Road, Strathmore VIC, just a short walk from Strathmore Station on the Craigieburn line.

What is an escape room?
An escape room is an immersive experience where you are trapped in a themed room and must solve a series of puzzles in order to win.

What is a sightless escape room?
This room has no visual puzzles at all. Instead you’ll need to rely on your sense of touch and hearing to navigate the room, find puzzles and solve them.

Who is this room for?
The Owl Job is designed for all players, regardless of whether they have a vision impairment or not. Any players with sight will need to wear a provided blindfold to experience the room. Players without sight can just come as they are.

What abilities are required?
Players will need a sense of hearing, touch and be able to speak English. Having a love of unique puzzle games will also help.

Is it wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Entrance to the venue has a roller door right next to the main entrance. From there on there’s no steps, only long ramps.

Can I bring my assistance animal?
Yes, absolutely.

Are there toilets on site?
There are two gender neutral toilets, one of which is a larger accessible stall.

What are my travel options?

  • Train: The location is a 3minute walk from Strathmore Train Station (Craigieburn line)
  • Driving: Parking in the area is 1hr parking, from Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5pm. Unlimited free parking outside these times.

How long does it take?
Players are given 60minutes to complete the game. You must arrive 5 minutes prior to your game start time so you can be briefed beforehand.

How old do players need to be?
Players under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. We wouldn’t recommend this game for players any younger than 12.

Is there anything I need to bring?
Players must wear close-toed shoes. No sandals or bare feet please.

Is it safe?
Yes. You are never actually locked in the room. You can leave at any time via the door you come in if you need to use the bathroom or in the unlikely event of an emergency. Additionally players are not allowed to run in the room, climb on furniture, move around furniture, crawl on the ground, and players must wear close-toed shoes. With these rules in mind, the worst that can happen is you might gently bump into another player.

What escape rooms are not.
You are never actually locked in the room for obvious safety reasons. You will never have to break or destroy anything to complete a room. (And breaking/destroying things in the room will terminate your game experience.)

What formats is the waiver available in?
Like most escape rooms, players must sign a waiver before entering the room. This waiver will be available in standard size text on paper, large print text on paper, an audio version and a printed Braille version. You can find a copy of the waiver online here.

What if we need hints?
There’s a system in place for players being able to ask for hints.

What if I need to change my date or cancel?
Refunds are available only up until 24hrs prior to your event start time. (There are no refunds after this time.) Once your event has been refunded you are welcome to re-book another time, if one is available.

What if I’m running late?
We recommend planning to arrive 5 minutes prior to your game start time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your session start time it may result in forfeiting your session without a refund.
